Sandra J. Flowers, PhD, Neighbor

Sandra J. Flowers is in her fourth term as a Newport School Committee member. A native Newporter, she graduated from St. Catherine Academy, Salve Regina (BA, 1965), RI College (MA in Teaching, 1969), and again from Salve Regina (CAGS, 1995, and PhD, 2006).  She taught elementary grades  for 30 years in the Newport Public Schools, and continues her involvement as a mentor to a student at Rogers High School. Sandra is also on the boards of various organizations, including Forum Lodge/Sons of Italy, Newport Festa Italiana, Friends of Newport Public Library, the Newport Democratic City Committee, Baby Steps, and St. Joseph' Pastoral Council. She was recently named as vice president of the Newport chapter of AARP. Sandra plans to run for a fifth term in the November 2016 general election.
