On the article What Does Your Dad Mean to You?

Thank you for sharing this wonderful story of an exceptional father.
It saddened me to think how few people today stand with the same character, and devotion, to family, and community.
Now we shall all miss him.

I was curious about this poster given the tone and the fact it is their first post on Patch.
This comment is made to look like a real person, but it's a proxy name only to make it look like this is a Barrington resident. There is no person with that name on the property tax rolls in Barrington (I called Town Hall to check I was so mad).
I checked on line and there is no person with that name living in Barrington, or for that matter, living in RI according to public records.
Are the affordable developers are out blogging with made up names just to make Barrington residents feel embarrassed? My guess is that this is a strategy. Don't fall for it!

On the article No 'All-Day K' For Barrington in Fall, But Maybe by January

Concerned,
Stop thinking logically!
I'm reminded of how logic works in the mind of a politician:
"What's the use of spending good money on a toupee if nobody knows you did!"

Mario,
I agree that teacher salaries need to be a "fairness" issue. What I have a problem with is the school committee's view that our schools are top because we are paying for top talent.
That is pure hogwash! Barrington does not need to have one of the highest paid top step teacher rates in the state to have quality schools.
Teachers want to teach in Barrington rather than in war zone schools. The idea that grades would suffer if we paid less is what the school administration wants us all to believe.
The fact is that our students arrive for school better prepared than in many other schools, and that is what is mainly driving top performance.

On the article Confrontation Over Tax Abatement for Affordable Housing Project Put Off

Lorraine,
Actually I think this is always done for any "abatement year". Each year at the FTM, the resolution is passed and then for the rest of the year, the abatements can follow.
This year's language can be found on page 2 at:

It's not just full day K!
The town council affordable die hard's just voted down the senior tax deferment proposal for town residents. But that was OK.
Residents come last in their "I just got re-elected" world.

ReplyAbel,
I have no idea the issues around this, but would this matter be considered business friendly, or business negative? I know that many corporation rely on the definition of corporations as a "person", but don't understand it beyond that.

On the Blog Post Was The Sweetbriar Town Council Vote Legal?

I read the link, but it's still a little confusing. It looks like the town can get the unpaid taxes back, but it's still legal speak, so I'm not sure.

Suzanne,
Thank you for having the courage to write an article that is sure to promote interesting comments.
The issue is simply this: technology (and cheap imports from China), now allows unlimited forms of expression to the masses.
At what point do we finally decide that a "ball bearing bumper", and other curiosities, are over the top.
I reached that point long ago. Thanks for the article.
