Barrington schools start next Monday, Aug. 27. Are your children set up with the school lunch program offered by Chartwells? Daily prices for lunch are $2.60 for elementary students and $2.85 for middle and high school students. The daily price for breakfast is $1.10. Or you can buy lunch weekly at $13 for elementary students and $14.25 for middle and high school students. There are several ways to pay. Option 1: You may prepay online using the MyNutrikids website. There is a link on the district’s website for you to set up an account. Option 2: Place monies in a sealed envelope with the child’s name, teacher’s name and amount enclosed clearly marked. Please indicate whether monies are for lunch or milk. Abundant Life Assembly of God Church campaign brings in almost 7,000 individual items for TAP-IN in Barrington and its 400 clients.
The bus was stuffed with school supplies on Sunday. Almost 7,000 individual school supplies were loaded on an Ocean State Transit school bus parked at Abundant Life Assembly of God church on the Barrington/Swansea line. Loading the supplies started at 1 pm after a brief ribbon-cutting ceremony. It ended the “Stuff the Bus” campaign to benefit TAP-IN (Touch a Person In Need) in Barrington and the nonprofit’s 400 clients all over the East Bay. “We stuffed the bus, believe it or not,” said Jessica Rook, who led the campaign for the church. The exact number of school supplies was 6,937 individual items, she said, including 180 backpacks. “We had a great turnout of volunteers,” Rook said. “It was pretty cool. A new director of curriculum and instruction and a new middle school principal were appointed Wednesday evening by the Barrington School Committee.
The Barrington School Committee filled out the systems's administrative team Wednesday evening at a special meeting. A new director of curriculum and instruction was appointed to fill the post previously held by first-year Superintendent Michael Messore. A Barrington native was named the new principal for the middle school to replace a long-time principal and Barrington native. The appointments filled the final two administrative vacancies 12 days before students return to schools. Paula Dillon, the assistant superintendent for technology, teaching and diverse populations in East Greenwich, was named the new chief of curriculum and instruction. She will start on Sept. 4.
