Bay View Girl Wins Local VFW Award
Cristina Marsocci wrote and recorded an essay that won the 'Voice of Democracy' contest sponsored by VFW Post 9742 of Barrington; it also won at the district level.
A junior at Bay View Academy in East Providence is the winner of the “Voice of Democracy” scholarship contest sponsored by Barrington VFW Post 9742. Cristina Marsocci received the $100 prize from William Grove, commander of the VFW Post, for an essay she wrote and recorded as a broadcast script. It was titled “4400 Words That Changed the World.” The competition’s theme this year was: Is Our Constitution Still Relevant? The Voice of Democracy contest is the VFW’s premier scholarship program with more than 50,000 students competing for more than $2.3 million in scholarships. “We are so pleased to have a winner from Post 9742 and be here at Bay View to present to Cristina this $100.00 award, said Grove. “We have been informed that her audio …
