Bank to Sponsor Summer Concerts

BankNewport has donated another $3,000 to to support the annual Summer Concert Series in Barrington.

BankNewport has donated another $3,000 to continue its sponsorship of the annual summer concert series in Barrington. Michele Geremia, director of recreation and leisure services, made the announcement of the donation for the 2013 concert series at last week’s Parks and Recreation Commission meeting, according to Michael Seward, chairman of the recreation board. The contribution will allow the recreation department to bring to Barrington each summer at least four shows. In past years, those concerts included show at Barrington Beach and Tillinghast Farm. For the past two years, the concert series has included performances by the Rhode Island Wind Ensemble and Atwater-Donnelly on the Town Hall lawn, The Nightlife Orchestra at Tillinghast …

Wind Ensemble Opens Summer Series

The Rhode Island Wind Ensemble, the resident group at Rhode Island College, returns again to open the 2012 Summer Concert Series in Barrington.

Barrington's free Summer Concert Series opens on Sunday evening, June 24, with the Rhode Island Wind Ensemble playing just south of the Town Hall next to the library. You need to bring your own chairs or blankets. The concert starts at 6 pm. BankNewport sponsors the town concert series in partnership with the recreation department. Four concerts make up the series. The wind ensemble is the resident group at Rhode Island College. It is directed by Robert Franzblau.
