Rubber Duckies Race for Schools

The thousand rubber duckies that race each fall in the Barrington Education Foundation fundraiser turn into scores of educational opportunities for schools.

  A thousand rubber duckies racing on Woods Pond on Saturday will have a big impact on the lives of Barrington school children. That’s the message from the Barrington Education Foundation, which holds its annual Rubber Ducky Race fundraiser on Sept. 29 from 2 to 4 pm. The rubber duckies race at 3 pm sharp. Each year the race and accompanying festival raise about $10,000 that goes into Barrington’s schools, said Carolyn Greeley, communications chair for the BEF. Tickets for each ducky are $10. Rubber Ducky Race 'Coming Together'

The annual fundraiser for the Barrington Education Foundation is Saturday, Sept. 29; you can buy a ducky through school flyers, online and on the day of the race.

The rubber duckies go to the starting line this year in 12 days. Yes, it's time for the annual Rubber Ducky Race on Woods Pond on County Road just south of the Town Hall. The race got the official go-ahead from the Barrington Town Council last Monday night. The annual fundraising event for the Barrington Education Foundation runs this year on Saturday, Sept. 29, from 2 to 4 pm. Race time is 3 pm. There is a rain date this year for the first time, Sunday, Sept. 30, said Julie Chalue, race chairwoman. “It’s all coming together,” said Chalue. “We hope to hit 1,500 ducks this year.
