Girls' X-C, Boys' Soccer Take Titles

Barrington's girl's cross-country team takes New England crown; soccer squad finishes unbeaten season with RI Division I championship.

Barrington High School freshman Emma McMillan led the girl’s cross-country team to a New England title Saturday, according to the Providence Journal. And back home at Rhode Island College on Saturday, the undefeated boy’s soccer team won its third state championship in five years, according to the Providence Journal. The Eagles beat La Salle, 3-2. McMillan placed third overall in the girls’ race with a time of 19 minutes, 7 seconds. She led Barrington to its first-ever New England championship with a 75-132 victory over Coe-Brown High of N.H. in the meet in Cumberland, Maine. Boys' Soccer Team Goes for Title on Saturday

The Barrington High School boys' soccer team plays La Salle on Saturday for the Division 1 state title.

Will the Rhode Island state boys' soccer championship in Division 1 on Saturday be the charm for Barrington High School? It's the final chance for another fall team to bring home a title. The girls' cross-country team won and competes in the New England championships this weekend; the girls' field hockey team lost by a goal, and the girls' JV volleyball team dropped a 3-1 match for the state title. Storm Shuffles Playoff Schedule

All of Barrington High School's fall teams that have finished their seasons are involved in the state playoffs; football won't be determined until after Thanksgiving.

Tropical storm Sandy has forced the Rhode Island Interscholastic League to shuffle its playoff schedule. Here is the new schedule of playoff games for all of Barrington High School's team, according to George Finn, athletics director at the high school. The football playoff schedule won't be put together until after Thanksgiving. Thursday's girls volleyball game could change to 7 pm, said Finn. BHS Athletes Prep for Playoffs

All of Barrington High's fall teams, with football still to be determined, are scheduled to get started in playoff competition starting this week, Hurricane Sandy weather permitting.

Fall Sports Preseason Information

Read here for information on first team meetings, physicals for athletes, and mandatory interscholastic league forms.

Barrington High School Athletics Director George Finn released the following information about preseason preparations for fall sports team, including the start dates for practices. First Team Meeting: Football tthletes will meet on Wednesday, Aug. 8, at 5 pm.  All fall athletes (except football) will meet on Wednesday Aug. 15, at 6 pm. Both meetings will be in the high school auditorium. Parents and athletes are required to attend. Pre-Participation Athletic Physicals: Anyone planning to participate in a fall sport must have a physical exam before beginning practice or tryouts.
