Rams, Dunphy Ground Eagles for Title
Barrington is limited to seven second half points, as La Salle controls from end to end in a 62-29 win for the state title.
The La Salle Rams steamrolled Barrington, 62-29, for the girls’ basketball state title Sunday afternoon at the Ryan Center on the University of Rhode Island Kingston’s campus. La Salle led by 10 points throughout most of the first half, increasing the margin to 35-22 at halftime. A stifling defense and Barrington’s frustration with foul calls against them led to just seven points for the Eagles in the second half. While the Rams did seem to get the benefit of more calls, La Salle also played a more skilled and aggressive game. The Rams finished when given opportunities down low, and their press harassed the Eagles into turnovers throughout both halves.
