The Friends of the Barrington Public Library have received donations of several complete multi-volume book sets that are available for purchase directly from the library's book sorting room. Many wonderful gardening books are also available for purchase at nominal prices. If you are interested in any of the volumes, or you wish to view the numerous other books available, please leave your name and telephone number with the Reference Department staff, either in person or by calling 401-247-1920 ext 2. The annual Friends of the Barrington Library host their annual used book sale this weekend, Nov. 2-4, in the Senior Center.
The fact that the Friends of the Barrington Library are asking people NOT to donate any more books should give you some idea of the size of the annual book sale coming up this weekend, Nov. 2-4. The annual book sale is always referred to as a "giant" book sale. This year that description may be more appropriate than ever. "There will be thousands of gently used books -- some even new -- for all ages and both fiction and nonfiction, including out-of-print and collectibles," said Joyce Van Sluyter, who coordinates the sale for the Friends. The sale begin with a Benefit Preview on Friday night, Nov. 2, when admission is $20 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Then from 7:30 to 9 p.m. admission is $10 or free to members of the Friends of the Library. …

Listen to classical music and poetry by world-class artists on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 21, in the Barrington library auditorium. The Friends of Barrington Library are holding a book sale on Saturday from 10 am to 3 pm in the book-sorting room in the lower level of the library. Fiction, non-fiction and collectable books will be included in the sale. Admission is free. Enter through the double doors on the County Road side of the Library/Peck Center, also known as the entrance to TAP-IN. You can also stock up on plants while grabbing some new books to read. For the first time this year, the sale is coinciding with the annual spring plant sale of the Barrington Garden Club. For more information, contact the library at 247-1920, ext. 305.
