Kids Build Robots to Aid Seniors

Barrington Middle School students have built robots that offer mobility solutions for seniors; they will compete this weekend in a FIRST LEGO League tournament that demonstrates their inventions.

More than two dozen Barrington Middle School students will show off this weekend two robots they have built to improve the lives of the elderly. The seventh- and eighth-graders are competing in the FIRST® LEGO® League "Senior Solutions" Qualifier Tournament on Dec. 1, 2012 at Kickemuit Middle School in Warren and Dec. 2 at Bay View Academy in East Providence. The teams are made up of 8 and 6 students, respectively. They are competing for a chance to advance to the FIRST LEGO League State Championship in January at Roger Williams University in Bristol. Barrington Robotics Teams Compete in Celebration of Science and Technology: See Video

Three teams compete in the 10th annual FIRST LEGO League Rhode Island Robotics Championship at Roger Williams University.

Students and enthusiastic parents gathered at Roger Williams University Saturday, Jan. 15, for the 10th annual FIRST LEGO League Rhode Island Robotics Championship.  The Barrington Eagles Robotics Team from Barrington Middle School, the Unstoppable Programming Specialists from Barrington Christian Academy, and the SAP New England Robo Builders from SAP AG were among the 58 teams from across Rhode Island. The robots completed missions within a course and scored points for their teams with every mission completed. Parents cheered from the bleachers and on the court for their favorite team. Enjoy the video.
