Barrington police receive report from George Street resident that the Doug Rayner Wildlife Sanctuary is vandalized on Monday afternoon.
A quiet three-day weekend in Barrington ended on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Jan. 16, with a report of vandalism in the Doug Rayner Wildlife Sancturary at Nockum Hill caused by a four-wheeling vehicle. A George Street resident who lives near the 70-acre sanctuary stopped by the police station at 1:53 pm to file a complaint. A four-wheel drive vehicle reportedly was observed driving down a dirt road toward the sanctuary, according to the police. The vehicle then reportedly caused damage to the trails and woods in the sanctuary, which is protected by a town ordinance. That is a great point there. Currently there are no pieces of apparatous that have the ability to draft. There are a couple places in East Providence and Seekonk that run off of private hydrants which can consist of dedicated water towers that use gravity or underground tanks that are fed by pumps.   more ›
