Only two warranty deeds were recorded n the Barrington Town Hall during the Labor Day-shortened work week.
The Labor Day-shortened work week took its toll on real estate filings. Only two warranty deeds were recorded in the Barrington Town Hall last week, Sept. 2-8. The homes are located in the middle school and Hampden Meadows neighborhoods. The sale prices of the homes were $265,000 and $547,000. Five warranty deeds were recorded in the Barrington Town Hall last week, Aug. 26-Sept. 2, for properties that changed owners.
Five warranty deeds that showed an exchange of properties from a seller to a buyer were recorded in the Barrington Town Hall last week, Aug. 26 to Sept. 2.. The deeds included one property that sold for a high of $805,000 and another property that sold for a low of $357,500. The other warranty deeds ranged from $505,000 to $570,000, giving you some idea of the price of Barrington properties in the current real estate market.

Bluemead Farm off of Chachapacasset Road hits almost no bumps before the Barrington Planning Board; it will be referred for a possible archeological study.
The proposed Bluemead Farm subdivision in Rumstick got relatively smooth sailing before the Barrington Planning Board Wednesday evening, Sept. 5, in Town Hall. The nine-lot subdivision on the corner of Chachapacasset and Beach roads will be referred to the Rhode Island Historical Preservation and Heritage Commission for a possible archeological study because it sits adjacent to a spring-fed pond along Beach Road that dates back to pre-Colonial days. A nine-lot subdivision of single-family homes, including two affordable houses, goes before the Barrington Planning Board for the first time tonight, Sept. 5. Members of the Planning Board did walk the site off of Chachapacasset Road last week, said Town Planner Phil Hervey. The site borders a small pond off of Beach Road. The subdivision, Bluemead Farm, is located on 13.6 acres of mostly vacant land. It is being proposed by the Blumead Family L.P., of 211 Rumstick Road, Barrington. The land is covered by trees and brush and holds only two small horse barns right now, according to plans drawn up by David D. Gardner & Associates of Warwick. Four warranty deeds were recorded in Barrington Town Hall last week, Aug. 12-18 -- three of them for homes and one for the former home of Wallis Seafood on Maple Avenue. The deeds show sale prices that range from $235,000 for the business and $313,000 to $570,000 for the homes. Three more warrantly deeds were recorded in the Barrington Town Hall last week, Aug. 5-11. The properties are located in the Nayatt, Afred Drown and middle school neighborhoods. The sale prices ranged from a high of $475,000 for a condo on Woodhaven Road to a low of $140,000 on Third Street within sight of Allin's Cove. The deeds can give you some idea of what properties in these neighborhoods are selling for in this market.

Good points Lorraine, Nockum Hill was rejected on affordable housing ordinance issues, but Bluemead appears to have been approved with violations to the town ordinances. The town ordinance requires architectural consistency for all homes in a project, so how did the Planning Board grant waivers allowing homeowners to build whatever type of house they want on the site?
