Flag Flies to Remember Armenians

April 24 is Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day in Rhode Island.

You may have noticed a red, blue and orange flag blowing in a stiff breeze on the flagpole outside the Barrington Town Hall on Tuesday, April 24. The flag flew for the 13th consecutive year on Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day, said Town Clerk Linda James. April 24 has been set aside in Rhode Island as a day to commemorate the Armenian genocide of 1915 to 1923, when more than 1.5 million men, women and children of Armenian descent were slaughtered by the Ottoman Empire. The flag few to remember all those those who perished, and to honor all Armenian-Americans, especially those living in Rhode Island.
