GOP Town Committee Elects Officers

Stephen Primiano is re-elected chairman of the Barrington Republican Town Committee.

The Barrington Republican Town Committee elected officers for 2013-2014 at a recent organizational meeting. Re-elected chairman was Stephen Primiano, who released the results of the election. Primiano will be joined among the local GOP leadership by Geoffrey Grove as vice chairman, John Alessandro as vice chairman, Martha Wallick as secretary and Raymond Simone as treasurer. The mission of the Barrington Republican Town Committee, said Primiano, is: “To promote excellence in government by supporting Republican candidates for office; to educate the public and provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and information affecting our community.” Meetings and events are open to the public.  For more information, visit the Republican website at …

Barrington Republicans Get 'Skunked'

Only one Republican got an election win Tuesday night: School Committee Chairman Patrick Guida, who now finds himself in the minority again on that board.

“We got skunked.” Steve Primiano, chairman of the Barrington Republican Town Committee, summed up his party’s showing in Tuesday’s election with those three words. “Obviously, I’m disappointed,” Primiano said while standing in a rather somber American Legion Hall filled with Republicans expecting a much better showing. “I really thought we would make inroads on the Town Council because of issues like revaluation and affordable housing,” he said. “I guess I’m most disappointed by the Town Council races.” Margaret Kane still had an outside shot at a seat on the council because she trailed Ann Strong, a Democrat, by 159 votes with 926 absentee ballots apparently not to be counted until today by the Board of Elections. GOP Candidates to Mix Politics, Wine

The Barrington Republican Town Committee is hosting a reception and wine tasting on Sunday, Oct. 21, at Grapes & Grains; U.S. Senate candidate Barry Hinckley is a special guest.

Fine wine and politics will mix again in Barrington on Sunday afternoon, Oct. 21. The Barrington Republican Town Committee is holding another reception and wine tasting for town council, school committee and legislative candidates at Grapes & Grains liquor store, 24 Bosworth St. A special guest will be U.S. Senate candidate Barry Hinckley, who is challenging Sen. Meet Republican Candidates for Barrington School Committee

Three Republicans, including two incumbent School Committee members, are seeking the three seats available on the Barrington School Committee.

An attorney who is a member of the Rhode Island Board of Regents, the CEO of his own medical device company, and a local educator are the Repubicans vying for seats on the Barrington School Committee in this year’s general election. Two of the Republicans already holds seats on the School Committee and are seeking re-election. The other candidate is a newcomer to a political campaign. A husband and wife running for seats on the Barrington School Committee at the same time? It's happening this year. Republican Martha Wallick has withdrawn as a Barrington School Committee candidate. She will be replaced on the ballot by Meaghan “Meg” Ramsden, the wife of School Committee member Christopher Ramsden, who is up for re-election. The Barrington Republican Town Committee invites you to sign the nomination papers for candidates in your voting district in the Senior Center on Tuesday evening.

  The Barrington Republican Town Committee hosts a “signature party” on Tuesday evening, July 10. “From 7:30 to 8:30 pm in the Barrington Senior Center,” said Steve Primiano, chairman of the Republican Town Committee, “we will be collecting signatures for our Republican candidates’ nomination papers.” All candidates must collect a minimum number of signatures to be placed on the ballot in the upcoming elections, Primiano said.  “Any registered voter regardless of party affiliation can sign if they live in a candidate’s district,” he said. “We will have forms available for our Republican candidates for Town Council, School Committee and state legislature,” Primiano said. “In addition, we are hoping to have forms for U.S. Senate candidate …

Barrington Republican Fred Diel, who calls himself the 'Real Diel', officially launches his campaign for the District 66 House seat in Barrington and Riverside.

Barrington Republican Fred Diel made it official early last evening – he is running for the District 66 State House seat that represents part of Barrington and Riverside. Diel launched his campaign in front of a gathering of leading Republicans at Billy’s restaurant in Barrington. Among those wishing him well were former gubernatorial candidate John Robitaille, Barrington state Sen. David Bates and RI Republican Party Chair Mark Zaccaria. Barrington's Fred Diel Eyes State House

The lifelong conservative Republican to officially declare on Monday his candidacy for the District 66 House seat held by Barrington's Joy Hearn.

Manfred "Fred" Diel says: “It’s all about the economy. If you fix it, all of the other things will come around.” And Diel believes that the turn-around will start by bringing manufacturing jobs back to Rhode Island. “Then the manufacturers will hire full-time employees, which automatically brings in tax revenue with payroll taxes and decreases the state’s unemployment rate,” he said.
