You can watch the stars from 7:30 pm to approximately 10 pm on what will be a moonless night – perfect for star-gazing. Friday’s forecast is for the possibility of thundershowers, though. Clouds would hide the stars, and thunder and lightning would chase you from the beach. So stay tuned. You will need to bring beach chairs, blankets, snacks and friends, said Katie Grove, the summer intern in charge of events. “The ASSNE will be providing multiple telescopes for viewing the…

Dozens of teens enjoyed music, Frisbee golf, musical chairs, volleyball, tug of war, human bowling and a variety other activities last Friday evening, July 13, at Barrington Beach. We know for a fact that there were more than 50 teens since the first 50 received T-shirts. There were even more in attendance enjoying food, games and talking with friends.” Taylor gave much of the credit for the success of …

Barrington EMTs train counselors at summer camps how to respond to emergency medical situations until professionals can arrive.
Barrington’s summer camp counselors – old and new – spent three hours on Wednesday morning getting certified in first aid and CPR. “We do train all staff in safety awareness,” said John Taylor, recreation director, which makes all the camps as safe as possible for children. Leading the training in the Council Chamber in Town Hall were Barrington EMT/cardiacs David Paull and Bob Flauss, partners on Rescue 1 and operators of CPR Training Associates. The class was requested by Taylor, said Paull, “as he feels it is essential to have the camp staff trained in CPR, AED (automated external defibrillator) use, and first aid -- and I couldn't agree more.” Paull said the camp counselors seemed “to understand a great deal of medical information …
