Vandals Use Gun, Knife, Rock

Four vandalism incidents were reported to the Barrington police last week.

Four vandalism incidents were reported to Barrington police last week, including two possible shootings. Malicious damage was reported to police at 8:44 am on Sunday, Nov. 11. Someone carved an obscene message into the rear bumper and trunk of a car parked at a home on Maple Avenue sometime overnight, police said. The user of the vehicle is a Barrington High School girl, according to the police report. There is a suspect for the vandalism, police said. At 5:11 pm on Sunday, the owners of a home at 245 Washington Road reported to police that someone shot out a picture window worth about $500. It is believed that only one projectile hit the window – either from a pellet or BB gun. But five popping noises were heard by one of the owners …

Alleged Seller of Stolen Cell Phone Charged

Barrington police charge Adams Avenue man, 18, with receiving stolen goods and obtaining money under false pretenses.

A Barrington man, 18, faces charges filed by police on Wednesday, Feb. 1, of receiving stolen goods and obtaining money under false pretenses. Barrington police said Vincent St. Angelo, of 57 Adams Ave., allegedly sold a stolen cell phone to a Warwick woman. She purchased it after responding to a listing he placed on craigslist.com, police said. The woman paid St. Angelo $280 for the phone as a gift for her boyfriend in Michigan, she told police. He discovered that he could not activate the phone because it had been reported stolen or lost. The woman reportedly attempted to get her money back from St. Angelo without success, police said. A trace by police found that the cell phone was the property of a female student, 18, at the University…

Woman Hoodwinked by Cell Phone Seller

Warwick woman, 20, buys from a man a cellular phone in Barrington that was reported lost or stolen by a university student.

A Warwick woman, 20, reported to Barrington police on Thursday evening, Jan. 19, that she purchased a stolen cellular phone. The woman apparently purchased the phone on Dec. 1 after responding to a listing on craigslist.com, police said. She picked up and paid $280 for the phone at the Dunkin’ Donuts shop on County Road. The phone was a gift for her boyfriend in Michigan, police said she told them. He discovered that he could not activate the phone because it had been reported lost or stolen. The woman reportedly attempted to get her money back from the man who sold her the phone. No success, police said, the man told her he had already spent the money. Teen Carrying Knife Faces Disorderly Conduct Charge

A Barrington High School boy, 16, reportedly 'acted up' on Wednesday afternoon.

A 16-year-old boy at Barrington High School carrying a folding knife in his pocket faces a disorderly conduct charge after “acting up” in school on Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 11. Barrington police report that the teen was running in and out of classrooms and yelling and screaming before he left the school. He was found carrying a knife in his pocket. But the knife was not pulled out or waved around, police said. The incident was reported to police at 1:54 pm by an assistant principal. Barrington police received a report on Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 11, of an alleged bullying incident involving a 7-year-old boy and a 7-year-old girl.
