The Barrington Town Council holds its monthly meeting on Monday, Sept. 10, in the Council Chamber in Town Hall at 7 pm; on the agenda is the introduction of the ordinance that bans plastic grocery and takeout bags in Barrington. The Barrington Business Association meets on Tuesday, Sept. 11, at 7 pm at Chiazza Trattoria & Bar on County Road; it's the first meeting after a summer hiatus with the October fall festival heading the agenda. GOP Women Heading for Overpass

Several Barrington Republican Women will be holding banners on the India Point overpass Thursday morning during rush hour.

You might see a few familiar smiling Barrington faces holding election banners on the India Point overpass on Route 195 in Providence Thursday morning on your way to work. Shirley Applegate-Lockridge, a local attorney and Town Council candidate, and Kay Chapin of Barrington, will be “holding banners for Barry Hinckley and Brendan Doherty,” she said. Hinckley is a Republican challenging Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse. Doherty is a Republican opponent of Rep David Cicciline.
