Pasta Dinner Benefits Youth Trip to D.C.

The Barrington Congregational Church is hosting a pasta dinner on Sunday, Jan. 27, or you can get a takeout dinner as well.

Enjoy a pasta dinner on Sunday, Jan. 27, at "The White Church" and help send a youth group on a service trip to Washington D.C. Barrington Congregational Church is hosting the pasta dinner event to raise money for the trip to the nation's capitol. It runs from 5 to 7 pm. While it is a sit-down dinner at the church on County Road, you can get takeout, too, if you can't stay and sit. "Feel free to stop by and pick up some dinner for your family to take home," said Hale Summers of the church. "We will have salad and pasta to take home." There is glutten-free pasta with sauce as well and a vegetarian alternative, she said. Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for children under 12. Or pay for a family of 5 or more for $30.

'The Way We Should Be Eating'

GO LOCAL Farmers' Market returns to 'White Church' in Barrington next Saturday, June 2, for its third season; it runs through October.

The GO LOCAL farmers' market returns to the “White Church” on Saturday, June 2, for its third year. “This is the way we should be eating,” said Lisa Browning, a registered dietitian who manages the Saturday morning market at the Barrington Congregational Church. And the more support given, the lower the prices can be." The market will run every Saturday through October, she said. Dozens of vendors from Rhode Island and southeast Massachusetts will set up booths and tables each week, although the mix of vendors will change weekly. "The market is a community …

'White Church' Changing Color

Painters with Catanzaro & Sons of Barrington are giving two exterior walls of the Barrington Congregational Church a facelift; off with an old coat of white and on with a fresh coat of white.

Barrington's "White Church," perhaps the town's most recognizable landmark, is changing color. Painters for Catanzaro & Sons of Barrington were sanding off an old coat of white paint on the north and south exterior walls on Thursday. They will apply a new coat of white paint to those walls as soon as the sanding is done. The repainting job began Wednesday and will continue for at least a week, according to a church representative. The east and west walls of the church were repainted last year.
