'Border War' Goes to Barrington

The Eagles outslugged East Providence in a very physical girls' basketball game Thursday night that closed out the first day of the annual Barrington Boosters Holiday Tournament.

Another basketball “border war” between Barrington and East Providence went the Eagles’ way Thursday night. The Eagle girls outslugged the Townies, 64-39, in the final game of the first day of the annual Barrington Boosters Holiday Tournament at Barrington High School.  The coaches were pleased with their teams' efforts in what was a very physical game. Barrington coach Stephen Lenz, of course, was a bit happier than East Providence coach Michael Solitro.  “I’m proud of their effort,” said Lenz. “We were good in spurts in a very physical game. 5th Holiday Hoops Tourney on Tap

The Barrington Boosters Holiday Basketball Tournament runs on Thursday and Friday, Dec. 27-28.

The 5th annual Barrington Boosters Holiday Basketball Tournament runs next Thursday and Friday, Dec. 27-28, at Barrington High School. Six girls' teams and four boys' teams will compete. Each team is guaranteed to play two games – one each day. George Finn, the athletics director at the high school who runs the annual tourney for the club, released the schedule for the two-day tournament.
