Housing Board Meets; Swim; Play Tennis

Here are five things you should know about today in Barrington.

Barrington’s Housing Board of Trustees meets at 7 pm in the Barrington library; the agenda includes update on two subdivisions with affordable units and a funding request from the developer of the Walker Farm Lane project. The Barrington Neighbors and Newcomers Club runs tennis drills each morning at 9 am at Centre Court Tennis Club, 50 Hospital Road, in nearby Riverside. Triton Swimming offers a customized workout for you each Tuesday at 5:30 am at the East Providence Boys and Girls Club if you are an intermediate or advanced swimmer.  Each day until the end of December, Barrington Veterinary Clinic, 260 Waseca Ave., is collecting donations of food for the RI Food Bank in a “4 Paws for A Cause” campaign; you get a free nail trim for your …

One has moved to FL and the rest of us are trying to decide where to go ---- no place here for us even though most have supported the Town for over 50 years in tax money and volunteering in various ways! Schools Closed; It's Election Day

Get out and vote in the 2012 General Election; BHS boys' soccer team plays RIIL semifinal match.

It's Election Day 2012; the Barrington Public Schools are closed. The Barrington High School boys' soccer team plays a Rhode Island Interscholastic League semifinal match at 6 pm against Portsmouth High School at Cranston Stadium. The Barrington/Warren Rotary Club meets at the Wharf Tavern at 6:30 pm. There is no speaker scheduled for this week. Take in a movie at the Barrington Senior Center at 12:30 pm every Tuesday. The Barrington Neighbors and Newcomers Club hosts daily tennis drills each weekday morning at 9 with a seasoned pro, doubles and singles, beginning to advanced levels, at the East Bay Tennis Club, 55 Hospital Road, Riverside.

Five Things to Know Today

Marilyn Monroe Film Series Continues

See 'The Seven Year Itch' in the Barrington library auditorium; the film continues the Tuesday night series celebrating the career of Marilyn Monroe.

“The Seven Year Itch,” with one of the most iconic movie scenes ever, continues at 7 pm the free Tuesday night film series in August at the Barrington Public Library that celebrates Marilyn Monroe; it features the actress standing in a white dress over a subway grate. Rhythm Quest Percussion, a percussion ensemble for children and teens ages11 to 18 who wish to learn, play and perform within the community, meets at 6 pm in the Reynolds School, 235 High St., in Bristol. Take in a movie at the Barrington Senior Center at 12:30 pm every Tuesday. Another tennis cardio-fusion class will be held at 6 pm at the courts at Chianese Memorial Park on Centennial Street; it will move indoors to Centre Court if it rains.
