I am new in town and don't understand the ritual of leavig unsightly leaf bags and barrels or other trash in front of homes seven days a week. Both trash and yard waste pick-ups are scheduled events that aren't that hard to follow. Are we that lazy or shall I say "busy" to bring them out on or a day before the pick-up day. PLEASE explain this home devaluing, ugly practice.

Unfortunately Steve, there is no real set day for yard waste. I have brush that has been there since the fall.

brush is now being collected beginning right after April 8th. For more information you should call the DPW in Barrington. I put some out today and they took it.

"Yard waste" or grass clippings are picked up April through November. Pick up day is same as garbage/recycling day. Brush is chipped April through November, just call DPW & follow the prompts. It has never taken more than a few days for chipping.

Steve: I agree the yard waste is unattractive. I hold mine in the shed & haul it out when I pull out the garbage can & recycling bins. I have lived here < 2 years learned the rules within the first 2 weeks. Not sure why long-term residents are uninformed.

Steve, wait until the fall and you have 20 leaf bags. I place my leaf bags out at the end of my driveway when I fill them. Saves having to move them twice. Sorry if this offends you.

Yard waste is waste. Thank you Steve for bringing the issue up. I am currently and have been for the past few months surrounded by barrels and bags. What I don't understand is why these items are ugly enough that the homeowners don't want them in front of their own front doors, ie; the far corners of their property, but it's alright for the rest of us to look out our front doors and see barrels and bags or have them marking the ends our yards.
I think with with a little planning, either timing ,a cart or two wheeler, perhaps even some young strapping children, our picturesque town could look the way it should.

Warren has a rule...nothing out until the evening before your scheduled day of trash pickup. Not hard to follow....
