RI Women in Action to introduce high school and college students to prominent women leaders.

Goldberg will address an audience of high school and college students at the first Rhode Island Women in Action event at St. Andrew’s School on Federal Road. It runs from 1 to 4:30 pm.
The event will include a host of prominent Rhode Island women who will talk about their careers, said Angelika Pellegrino, a St. Andrew’s graduate and a freshman at Providence College.

“The purpose of Rhode Island Women in Action is to inspire an up-and-coming generation of female leaders,” said Pellegrino. “It should be a wonderful day and an amazing opportunity for students to make connections for their futures.”
Pellegrino is organizing the event as a final project for her Introduction to Women’s Studies course.

“Shortly after graduating from St. Andrew’s,” said Pellegrino, “I became a legal intern at the Rhode Island Department of Behavioral Healthcare, Developmental Disabilities and Hospitals. It was not until I had hands-on experience that I was able to have a better sense of what I would like to accomplish in my future.
“I now understand how imperative it is to focus on future goals sooner, rather than later, which is why I have taken the initiative to host this event,” she said.
Goldberg was appointed to the Rhode Island Superior Court in 1990 and the Rhode Island Supreme Court in 1997, according to the Supreme Court website. She began her professional career as a prosecutor in the Rhode Island Office of Attorney General.
