Looking for a few things to do this weekend, Aug. 23-25, in and around Barrington?
A "teen beach party" for kids 13-19 kicks off the weekend Friday from 6 to 9 pm at Barrington Beach. It is sponsored by the Barrington Recreation Department, The BAY Team and the Bayside YMCA. Music, games, swimming, free food and activities like an inflatable wrecking ball, an archery contest, tug-of-war, volleyball, badminton, Limbo, a scavenger hunt, water-gun roulette, and Wiffle ball are on tap. There also will be gift cards from Bagels Etc., Sweet Lorraines, Vienna Bakery and YogoCrazy, according to Recreation Director Michele Geremia.
You can always start your weekend shopping at the farmers market at the Barrington Congregational Church on Saturday from 9 am to noon. There are always new vendors on hand with seasonal produce, breads, pastries and other home-grown goods. Among the usual vendors are New Urban Farmers in Pawtucket, Aquidneck Honey in Middletown, Providence Coffee Roasters in Providence, Nettie's Kettle Corn in North Providence, Oakdale Farm in Rehoboth, and Seven Stars Bakery in Providence and East Providence.
Or you might be able to find a “treasure” for your boat from some of the so-called “trash” that will offered at the “dock sale” Saturday morning at Brewer Cove Haven Marina starting at 9 am. The marina is located at 101 Narragansett Drive next to Haines Memorial State Park.
Then on Sunday, Feminine Fancies, 290 County Road, hosts its annual yard sale running from 11 am to 5 pm. The store offers contemporary women's apparel, lingerie and accessories. Prices from $1 to $100. The yard sale will be held rain or shine.
