Monday Essentials: 'School's Out'; Take Plunge; Learn to Keep Resolutions

Today, Dec. 30, is the final day for the Recreation Department School’s Out program for kids ages 6-12 at the Barrington Middle School. A variety of activities during the half-day sessions are scheduled. Click here for more information on Patch or go to the Barrington website.

The 100 Years of Magic celebration of Disney On Ice ends today, Dec. 30, at the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in Providence. Showtimes are 12 and 4 pm. Click here for more information.

The unofficial Annawamscutt Seal Society holds its annual plunge at noon into Narragansett Bay at Annawamscutt Beach in Barrington on Wednesday, Jan. 1, just like it has for has every year for more than 30 years. Hundreds of plungers and spectators typically turn out at the beach at the end of Annawamscutt Road.

Real life often gets in the way of you sticking to your resolutions you make at the beginning of the year. Learn how to make an action plan on Saturday, Jan. 4, if you want the changes to stick. It’s the first seminar of a 6-part series titled the Postively Saturday Winter Series hosted by the East Bay Chamber of Commerce, 16 Cutler St., Warren. The first session of East Bay Contra Dance for 2014 presents on Thursday, Jan. 2, new callers, new bands and a new time. The new caller is Elwood Donnelly of the Atwater Donnelly Duo. The new band is the First Time String Band with Sally Rogers, Howie Bursen, Deck Nieforth and special guest fiddler Dan Lanier. The new time is 7:30 - 10:30 pm. Dancers will still meet at 790 Main St. in Warren.
