Barrington Man ADA 'Father of Year'

Bill Loehning is one of three recipients of this year's Father of the Year Award by the American Diabetes Association and Boston Father's Day Council.

The American Diabetes Association and the Father’s Day Council of Boston will honor Bill Loehning of Barrington as one of three recipients of this year’s Father of the Year Award. 

The men will be celebrated for their commitment to help stop diabetes. The festivities take place on June 11 at the Seaport Hotel in Boston. 

Each year, the American Diabetes Association and the Boston Father’s Day Council present the Father of the Year Award to outstanding men, who are local business and community leaders, for balancing a highly successful career with the demands of being a great dad.

Loehning is Executive Vice President for Fidelity Financial Advisor Solutions (FFAS), a division of Fidelity Investments. He is responsible for Relationship Management to the Insurance and DCIO clients serviced by FFAS.

A longtime Barrington resident, Loehning joined Fidelity in 1987 and was appointed to his current position in April, 2009. Before joining Fidelity, Loehning was a general manager with New York Life Insurance Company.

Loehning received his bachelor’s degree from Kean University. He was named "Outstanding Alumnus" by the university in 2011.

Loehning is a member of the board of directors of Roger Williams Hospital in Providence. He is also chairman of the Advisory Board of Make-A-Wish Foundation® of Massachusetts and Rhode Island.

As an honoree, Mr. Loehning has made a commitment to support the mission of the American Diabetes Association: to prevent and cure diabetes and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes.

The dinner event will feature tribute videos for each honoree, remarks by their families, and the presentation of the Father of the Year Tribute Trophy. All proceeds from the event will benefit diabetes research, education, and advocacy.
