Fiddlers Returning to Haines Park

Hear some great fiddle music on Saturday at Haines Memorial State Park; it's the second Fiddle 'n Folk Fest at 1 pm.

So, you want to hear some great fiddle and folk music?

Make your way over to Haines Memorial State Park by the boat launch on Saturday, Aug. 4. It's the second Fiddle 'n Folk Fest starting at 1 pm.

The concert is a reprieve of last year's festival that drew scores of people to the park. The concert is free, but donations will be appreciated.

The concert is being produced by Barrington’s Local Brew Coffeehouse in cooperation with the RI Department of Environmental Management, which manages the park, and The BAY Team -- Barrington's substance abuse prevention coalition.

Other sponsors include the RI State Council on the Arts, Wildflour Vegan Bakery and Juice Bar, Barrington Public Library, Bay Spring Community Center, and Barrington Recreation Department.

"A variety of fiddlers and bands will perform a great range of fiddling styles, from traditional to modern," said Larson Gunness of Local Brew. "Some of the performers include The Bluegrass Invitation Band, French Roast (featuring Michelle Kaminsky and Alan Bradbury), The Old Fiddlers Club of RI, Sundial, Katherine Quinn, Bob Drouin with Rich Horwitz (5-string banjo) and Kevin Doyle (percussion/step-dance), Andy and Dustine Reich, and Bay Spring Folk."

Bring a blanket and a picnic basket, or grill on the Haines Park fireplaces. Kids can create at arts and crafts tables to keep them occupied when not dancing. Food trucks and craft vendors will sell goods all day.

For more information go to Local Brew Coffeehouse on Facebook. The rain date is Sunday, Aug. 5.
