Yacht Club Hosts J/30 Sailboat Championship for North America
Sailors competed in 3 races each day this weekend to try to earn title of North American champ.
J/30 sailboat racers from across the East Coast competed out of the Barrington Yacht Club this weekend, July 25-28, in the 2013 North American Championship regatta. Approximately 20 boats raced in the upper south part of Narragansett Bay starting each day around 11 am. Each of the 9 races was 6 miles long and took 60 to 90 minutes to complete. The yacht club hosted a cookout under tents after racing on Friday, a banquet on Saturday night, July 27, and an awards presentation on Sunday evening, July 28. Regatta chairman was Charles Stoddard of Barrington.
