He'll Test Yo-Yo Talent Against World

Zach Gorton, 13, of Barrington, the Rhode Island state champion, will compete in early August at the World Yo-Yo Championships in Florida.

Zach Gorton, 13, of Barrington, will get a chance to add to his Rhode Island Yo-Yo championship in early August.

Gorton, a student at the middle school, has been seeded for the World Yo-Yo Championships in Orlando, Fla., according to the Providence Journal.

He earned the Rhode Island championship at the competition held at Barrington Congregational Church in April. See Patch story. His performances were evaluated for technical execution, variation, uniqueness, choreography, presentation and style, said Gayle Ulrich of the Yomega Corporation in the Patch story.

Zach is among 200 players from 22 countries seeded by organizers of the World Yo-Yo Contest. He will compete in the Single A division, where he will perform yo-yo tricks with a traditional yo-yo, according to the Providence Journal.
