Back to School Hike at Johannis Farm

A tour of the historic Johannis Farm is set for Saturday Sept. 8. This outing is part of the Land Trust Days sponsored by the Rhode Island Land Trust Council. The event a unique opportunity to visit an early coastal farm that is not publicly accessible. Join the Barrington Land Conservation Trust for hikes and a talk about the natural and human history of the Johannis Farm.

Participants can arrive between 10 a.m. and noon. at Sowams Elementary School where a land trust member will bring them to the farm. The walk is approximately 1 to 2 miles, it is mostly rated “easy” and open to all. There is a narrow footbrige to cross. Boots or water resistant shoes are recommended. Tick and bug protection is advised. No registration required.

Sowams Elementary School is at 364 Sowams Road. It’s about a 20 minute drive from Providence.

The rain date is Sept. 9.
