Eagles-Huskies Turkey Day Clash Seems One-Sided, But Who Knows?

The annual Barrington versus Mt. Hope Thanksgiving Day clash starts at 10 am at Victory Field in Barrington.

Barrington High and Mt. Hope High tangle again on Thanksgiving morning in a renewal of their annual East Bay Turkey Day rivalry.  Kickoff is at 10 am at Victory Field in Barrington.

Barrington leads the series 13-7 and the Eagles have taken 12 of the last 13 games after Mt. Hope won 6 of the first 7 contests. The game last year went down to the wire with Barrington winning 25-20 in the final 42 seconds.

The Eagles, 10-1 on the season, are heavy favorites to win their seventh straight game in the series this year. Barrington will be the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Rhode Island Interscholastic League Division 1 playoffs with a 7-1 record. Barrington’s only loss came in its last game against Portsmouth on Nov. 15 in double overtime, 7-6, after a two-point conversion attempt was botched.

Mt. Hope bowed out of the Division II playoffs with a 42-0 loss to West Warwick. The Huskies finished 4-3 in their division and stand at 5-5 overall for the season.

William McCagney has been the head coach at Barrington since 2004. Brian Cote is finishing his second year as head coach at Mt. Hope.
