Want to Play in College? Workshop for You

Barrington Boosters is hosting a 'collegiate athletic workshop' tonight at 7 pm in the high school library.

 

High school and middle school students who are considering playing sports in college are invited to attend a "Collegiate Athletic Workshop" sponsored by the Barrington Boosters Cluband and the Barrington High School guidance department.

The workshop is tonight, Nov. 13. It starts at 7 pm in the high school library.

The program will feature a local Division 1 college coach, representatives from the Barrington guidance department, current high school seniors who have committed to continue their athletic careers in college, and a former high school student who played four years of Division 1 athletics in college, according to Kevin Ryan, booster club president.

In addition, Ryan said, information about the NCAA eligibility requirements will be provided.

"This will help parents and students become more familiar with how the process works and give some guidance on the steps that need to be taken by prospective athletes to help them pursue the correct athletic and academic opportunity," said Ryan, a former college athlete.
