School Committee to Vote on Common Core
A resolution on the Common Core goes before the Barrington School Committee as several local residents, including a school board member, fight to halt its implementation.
A resolution in support of the Common Core State Standards is on the agenda of the Barrington School Committee meeting tonight, Jan. 16.
The meeting starts at 7:30 pm in the School Committee Meeting Room in Town Hall.
The Common Core resolution is being brought to the School Committee for a vote in the midst of a grassroots effort by several Barrington residents to put a stop to its implementation in Rhode Island. Among the members of Stop Common Core Rhode Island is School Committee member Scott Fuller, a math teacher and former administrator in Cumberland.
Fuller cited in a recent Patch story a synopsis of research that cites '10 colossal errors' of Common Core and the 'train wreck' that he and the other Barrington residents see coming. The website includes a petition.
