Girls' Ice Hockey Team Takes Game One in Finals
The Barrington/Mt.Hope/Portsmouth co-op girls' ice hockey team bests Burrillville co-op, 3-2, Saturday afternoon to take game one of the best-of-three Division 1 finals.

Barrington/Mt.Hope/Portsmouth’s girls’ co-op ice hockey team opened its best-of-three series for Rhode Island’s Division I championship with a 3-2 win over Burrillville/Ponaganset co-op Saturday afternoon in Schneider Arena at Providence College.
Barrington got a goal in the first period from Emily Carlson with an assist by Katie Saunders. Barrington outshot Burrillville in the first period, 14-3.

Burrillville came back with a tying goal in the second period. But Barrington regained the lead with 5 minutes left in the second period on a goal by Grace McGarty with the assist by Chelsea Larisa. Barrington again outshot Burrillville, 19-15, in the second stanza.
Burrillville scored early in the third period to tie the game again at 2-2. The score remained tied until four minutes were left in the game.

Barrington cashed in on a 5-on-3 power play to take the 3-2 lead with another goal from Emily Carlson with another assist by Chelsea Larisa.
Goalie Sophie Faxon for the Eagles made 31 saves.
Game two of the series is Sunday at 1 pm also at Schneider Arena.
