Donate Your Used Sporting Goods

Hampden Meadows School PTO is again collecting used sporting goods for its annual sale.

You have gently used sporting goods cluttering up your garage or basement, don't you? Here's your chance to get rid of it.

Donate the gear to Barrington's Hampden Meadows Elementary School. The PTO is gathering used sporting goods and equipment for it annual HMS Used Sporting Goods Sale.

The sale runs this year on Saturday, March 16 from 9 am to 2 pm in the school cafeteria.

"This used equipment sale is a great opportunity for people to clean out their basements and garages of all their outgrown sporting equipment,” said Liz Tomulonis, a co-chair of the event. “It's also a perfect opportunity for families to pick up some gently used items at great prices.”

“Best of all,” she said, “Hampden Meadows School benefits by receiving the proceeds from this fundraiser.  It's really a win-win for everyone involved."

The PTO will be happy to pick up the gear if it isn’t convenient for you to drop it off.  Call the school office at 247-3166 to arrange a pick-up.

An extensive assortment of sporting goods is available for purchase each year. There is always a selection of equipment available for the more popular team sports -- everything you might need for baseball, lacrosse, soccer, football, basketball, and field and ice hockey.

The sale always includes a selection of other items — such as bicycles in all sizes, skateboards, golf clubs, fishing equipment, tennis racquets, ice skates, exercise equipment, goals, ski gear, sleds and even jogging strollers. And at rock-bottom prices.

There have been hundreds of cleats and ice skates in all sizes priced at $5 or less. Some bikes have sold for as low as $10. A complete set of quality golf clubs sold for $15 two years ago.

Did we say used sporting goods? Some items donated often are brand new with the price tags still attached.
