Barrington High School is Tops in Rhode Island Again

School ranks 440th nationally.

Barrington High School has landed at the top spot in US News & World Report's annual ranking of high schools in Rhode Island and placed 440th nationally.

Among the top 500 schools, Barrington High School ranked 178th in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) based on participation and success in Advanced Placement (AP) science and math tests.  

In addition, the school was identified as a Gold Medal winner in this year's rankings.

According to US News & World Report's data, Barrington has a 54 percent participation rate in AP studies and boats proficiency rates of 93 and 69 percent in reading and mathematics respectively.

The school's "college readiness" score, according to USA Today, is 49.3 percent — substantially higher than the state average.
