Barrington High School Gets #1 Rank

Rhode Island Monthly magazine ranks the local high school as the best in the state.

Barrington ranks first among public high schools in Rhode Island, according to the most recent ranking by Rhode Island Monthly magazine in its September issue.

The monthly magazine used a variety of factors to rank Rhode Island’s high schools, including scores on the 2011-2012 advanced placement (AP) tests, teacher-student ratio, spending per pupil, New England Common Assessment Program (NECAP) scores, Scholastic Achievement Test (SAT) scores and its almost 95 percent graduation rate.

The magazine said that the local high school’s AP scores were especially outstanding, with more students scoring at the college-level mastery level than any other in Rhode Island. The school’s NECAP and SAT scores also were the best overall.
