Trinity Repertory Company and Rocky Hill School Collaborating to Make Beautiful Music Together.

An exciting new collaboration is forming in the East Greenwich area.  Trinity Repertory Company, Rhode Island's largest arts organization, has partnered with Rocky Hill School and its performing arts department for the production of the School's theatre performances.

Since its founding in 1963, Trinity Repertory Company has been one of the most respected regional theaters in the country, featuring the last long-standing resident acting company in America.  Rocky Hill School, founded in 1934, is one of the most respected independent day schools in the Rhode Island area and is proud to be an institution where students are supported in the pursuit and display of artistic passions and talents.  This new partnership between Rocky Hill School and Trinity Repertory Company—the only one of its kind in the state—will, no doubt, enhance and improve the already strong performing arts program at Rocky Hill School.

Meg Myette, Rocky Hill School’s Art Department Co-Chair, was the point person at the School to make this partnership a reality.  "The mission is to further strengthen the theater program at Rocky Hill School and to introduce the students to a larger repertoire of performance techniques, choreography and acting styles," Myette said.

Trinity Repertory Company education staff will visit Rocky Hill School Wednesday and Friday afternoons, providing students the pedagogical expertise needed to learn the process of theatre and to hone their craft.   The Trinity staff will work with Rocky Hill faculty members to help direct a fall variety show, a winter musical, a straight play in May, as well as several other smaller performances. Rocky Hill School faculty members and Trinity Rep performers and directors are very excited about this new collaboration.  Rocky Hill will, no doubt, become the leading performing arts school in the area thanks to the guidance from the talented and experienced Trinity Rep members.

Trinity Rep has a large impact on the community, and is a linchpin of Providence's arts and entertainment district. With an annual budget of $7.4 million, the theater employs more than 100 artistic and administrative staff, and generates more than $12 million in economic activity each year.  It is affiliated with the Brown University/Trinity Rep Consortium, which offers professional training for actors and directors in a three-year MFA program at Brown.  This quality relationship between a top university and Trinity Rep only strengthens the quality of their staff and theatrical programs.

Rocky Hill School is thrilled to connect with these great programs and introduce its students to such talent and theatrical experience.  This collaboration will allow for some amazing performances and theatrical works presented by Rocky Hill students in the coming months.  The first performance is the fall variety show on Friday, November 15th.
