'Strong, Damaging' Wind Advisory Issued

The National Weather Service issues a 'wind advisory' for most of Friday, Nov. 1.

A “strong to damaging” wind advisory is in effect for Bristol County and the rest of Rhode Island, according to the National Weather Service.

Two episodes of strong winds are forecast:

The first round will hit Friday morning, with south to southwest wind gusts up to 50 mph.

A second round of strong winds will hit in the afternoon as a cold front sweeps across the region. Gusts up to 50 mph could occur.

The winds could knock down some branches or trees that are still full of leaves. That could result in isolated power outages. Falling branches and trees also could cause problems for drivers.
