Special Town Council Meeting to Deal With Liquor Laws

The Barrington Town Council meets Wednesday at 8 am in the School Committee Meeting Room in Town Hall.

The Barrington Town Council holds a special meeting Wednesday morning, July 10, to deal with amendments to two liquor ordinances.

The 8 am meeting will be held in the School Committee Room in Town Hall with the elevator to the Council Chamber still out of order.

The ordinances are being amended for the new Municipal Court, which is expected to holds its first session later this month.

The first amendment expands liquor license rules, regulations and restrictions to incorporate required training for servers and sellers. It also adds penalties for not doing the required training. 

The second amendment deals with possession of alcohol by minors. It allows fines of up to $350 and 30 days of community service as penalties, and the possibility of required attendance at an educational program.
