Public Invited to Streetscape Workshop Feb. 26

One of the things that makes a community more beautiful, inviting and representative of the people who live there is the streetscape.

Trees, lights, the condition of the sidewalks and other details can lift a neighborhood's property value, yes, but it also helps establish a sense of place and identity to the people who live and pass through town every day.

Your chance to chime in on a conceptual plan for a streetscape and wayfinding signage improvement plan on Maple Avenue, Wood Avenue, West Street, Waseca Avenue and Cottage Lane is coming up.

On Feb. 26, the town will present the "Barrington Village Center Connectivity Plan"  at 7 p.m. in council chambers at Town Hall.

The public is urged to come and take a look at the plan and offer thoughts, suggestions and concerns.

I can't make the meeting but for those who can, an actual sidewalk that runs the length of washington ave would be really nice. Right now, there's nothing on east side of it, and on the west side, a mix of either nothing, or a thin strip of lumpy asphalt. The other request would be for a yield sign to be installed on northbound middle highway as you turn east onto old county road. people don't realize that they have to yield to vehicles that have already turned onto old county road from middle highway to the north. Another sign for travelers crossing the double yellow line to turn south onto middle highway from old county road would be nice. It should say "left turn yield to all traffic." This intersection is a disaster waiting to happen. thanks
