The re-opening celebration then will run into the evening with a Local Brew musical event, including snacks, soft drinks and cake; a photo booth, kids games, face painting and food trucks parked on the street in that neighborhood.

Other than the food trucks, the celebration is free to everyone.

The re-opening follows a period of time during which only the first floor of the building could be used because the second floor was not accessible to the handicapped without an elevator or lift. A lift has been added to the rear of the building, which now allows access to a second-floor entertainment space with a stage for musical groups and Local Brew Coffeehouses.

The re-opening also follows the completion of an agreement between the recreation department and the nonprofit Friends organization that has been unofficially supporting and offering programs and Local Brew Coffeehouses in the building for several years.  The Friends will now officially handle programs for the recreation department as an independent contractor.
