A vicious dog hearing is being considered for 30-pound terrier breed that attacked and bit a Providence man last week who was picking up trash on Martin Avenue. The man is the second victim of the dog.
The attack took place on Friday, Sept. 27, around 9:45 am. The dog bit a mail carrier last July, according to Barrington Police Chief John LaCross.
The trash collector, 24, was bitten in the calf, LaCross said. He suffered a puncture wound that was treated at a Maple Avenue urgent care center.
The dog reportedly is up to date on its shots. But it will be quarantined for 10 days, said LaCross. It was taken to an East Providence animal shelter.
The owner, whose name was not released, will be charged with failing to control the dog. Reportedly, a boy who lives at the house attempted to chase down the dog to catch it before it attacked and bit the man.
