Unlocked Vehicle Bandits Back, Propeller Thief Strikes Again
Barrington police receive reports of unlocked cars being ransacked and a boat propeller being swiped.
Unlocked vehicle bandits are back in Barrington. And there appears to be a propeller thief as well.
The Barrington police department received several reports last week about unlocked cars being entered. And it received a report of another propeller being swiped off a boat.
The first report came in from an Edgewood Drive resident about 9:45 am on July 1. His Mitsubishi was entered overnight and a backpack was rummaged through. Nothing was reported missing.

The second report came from a Claremont Drive resident about 2:30 pm on July 1. His Nissan was entered and Oakley sunglasses and $50 in cash were stolen, according to the police report. A backpack in the vehicle also was taken apart, and a door handle was damaged.
The third report came from a Clover Lane homeowner about 6:47 pm on July 1. His Toyota was entered. Nothing was reported missing.

The theft of a propeller – the second one taken in Barrington recently – was reported on Friday, July 5, about 4:30 pm. It was stolen from a boat docked in Cove Haven Marina. It is valued at about $1,000.
