'Road Rage' Leads to Alcohol-Possession Charge for Barrington Man, 19

The young man was stopped in a pickup truck out of which a cup of coffee was allegedly tossed onto a woman's car earlier in the night.

A young Barrington man and a 17-year-old boy were charged last weekend with possession of alcohol and given tickets for possession of marijuana by Barrington police.

Michael A. Moglia, 19, of 3 Mayfield Drive, was pulled over in a pickup truck at around 10:45 pm on Friday, July 19, on County Road near Albert Avenue. His vehicle was stopped because allegedly he was involved in a “road rage” incident in the truck earlier that night near Barrington Congregational Church on County Road, said Barrington Police Chief John LaCross.

Moglia reportedly was in the Dodge Dakota truck with another man out of which a cup filled with coffee was tossed at a vehicle that passed them when the car refused to stop for them. The woman driver of the car jotted down the plate number on the truck and reported the “road rage” incident to the police dispatcher, LaCross said.

Police found a bottle of Grey Goose vodka under the passenger seat in the truck and a baggie of marijuana on Moglia, the police chief said. He was charged with possession of alcohol as an underage person and given a summons to appear at the Traffic Tribunal for carrying an ounce or less of "pot."

The juvenile was stopped at around 2:15 am on Saturday, July 20, on Maple Avenue near Prince’s Hill Avenue because a headlight and a plate light were not working.
