Potholes Generating Complaints From Drivers

The Barrington Police Department has received four complaints about possible damage to vehicles by potholes since last Wednesday.

Pothole season seems to be coming early this winter.

The Barrington Police Department got complaints about damage to their vehicles from four drivers last week. Most of the complaints came from the same spot on Middle Highway.

A pothole near utility pole #110 across the street from the Rhode Island Country Club golf course generated the most complaints.

The first complaint came in on Wednesday morning, Dec. 11. The driver of a 2007 Mercedes SUV traveling north on Middle Highway hit the pothole, reportedly causing damage to the suspension on the passenger’s side of the vehicle.

The second complaint was made on Friday afternoon, Dec. 13. The driver of a 2007 Volvo reported that his vehicle hit the pothole near utility pole #110. No damage was reported.

The third complaint came in later on Friday, at around 9:14 pm. A blue Mazda hit the same pothole on Middle Highway. After that complaint, an orange cone was placed in the pothole by a Barrington police officer to warn drivers.

The fourth complaint was made late Saturday afternoon. But this report came from a driver on Karen Drive. He said a tire on a 2014 Mercedes was damaged from a pothole on that street.
