Police Nab Another Fugitive
Traffic stop of truck without a license plate by Barrington patrol officer turns into an arrest of a fugitive from justice.
A routine traffic stop by Barrington patrol officer Mark Haddigan early Sunday morning, July 15, on County Road near Lincoln Avenue turned into an arrest of a Providence man wanted by police for six felonies and one larceny.
Haddigan stopped a silver pickup truck at 12:47 am because it had no license plate, according to Police Chief John LaCross. When Haddigan ran the driver’s information against a crime database, it showed that he was wanted by police departments in Rehoboth and Raynham, Mass.
Frank L. Melone, 37, of General Street, Providence, was arrested as a fugitive from justice, according to LaCross. He was to be extradited by the Rehoboth Police Department this morning, July 16.
