Police Find 'Odd Couple' At Doughnut Shop

Couple described as possibly being on drugs at Dunkin' Donuts reported to Barrington police.

An “odd couple” drew Barrington police officers to the Dunkin’ Donuts shop on County Road last Saturday evening, June 29.

Employees contacted the dispatcher about 6 pm because they believed the man and woman might be high on drugs – and possibly taking drugs in the bathroom.

Barrington patrol officers found a man “lying across a table,” said Barrington Police Chief John LaCross. He did not respond to the officers at first, then ultimately opened his bloodshot eyes and appeared rather confused, LaCross said.

The man was asked if he was taking any drugs. He replied that he does take several prescription medications.

The woman, Crystal A. Crossen, 32, of Hope, RI, was in the bathroom when officers arrived. They knocked on the door to get her out of the bathroom, which employees said she was using for extended periods of time.

Police checked her name against a criminal database and discovered that there was a warrant for her arrest for failing to appear in 4th District Court on a charge for driving with a suspended license. She was taken to the police station to be turned over to the RI State Police in Hope Valley, which had issued the warrant for her arrest.

The man was not charged.
