Police Break Up Drinking Party in Woods Almost Before It Started

Three teens were spotted dragging a cooler filled with beer into the woods near the East Bay Health Center.

Barrington police busted up a drinking party that was just getting started in the woods not far from the East Bay Health Center off Old County Road last Friday afternoon, Oct. 11.

The police received a call about three teenage boys dragging a green insulated cooler into the woods about 4:30 pm, said Barrington Police Chief John LaCross. The boys exited a red or maroon Jeep SUV, which then drove off.

The boys were spotted after one of them stopped to urinate behind a dumpster at the mental health center, he said.

Patrol officers responded and began a search of the woods. It didn’t take long to spot one of the teens wearing a white cap. As the officers approached, the boys fled toward the Primrose Hill School, said LaCross.

A search for the boys continued, but they made their escape, he said. They did leave behind 30 unopened cans of cold Busch beer in the cooler and three cans of partially drunk beer. Police officers also confiscated a 40-ounce bottle of Corona.
