Man Pushing Carriage With Infant Swipes Baby Formula, Food

The shoplifter was reported to Barrington police last Saturday afternoon, Aug. 31.

A man pushing a baby carriage with a newborn infant reportedly swiped baby formula and baby food from the CVS Pharmacy in Barrington last Saturday afternoon, Aug. 31. 

The man walked into the store on County Road at approximately 12:42 pm, according to Barrington Police Chief John LaCross. He was described as dark-skinned and wearing black pants, a white T-shirt, and a white hat and white sneakers. 

The man immediately walked to the aisle containing baby products, said LaCross. He was observed on surveillance video placing six bottles of Enfamil and two packages of Gerber baby food in the carriage with the baby, LaCross said.

The man was in the aisle no more than four minutes, according to the video. After placing the items in the carriage, he turned and walked out the door without paying for them, according to the police report.

Detectives are reviewing the surveillance video to try to identify the man, LaCross said. The theft was reported to police at about 1:07 pm.
