Man, 78, Faces Two Domestic Charges After Argument Over TV

Bay Spring man allegedly grabbed wife by neck and forced her out of their apartment.

A 78-year-old Barrington man faces a charge of domestic assault on his wife.

John M. Harvey, of 90 Bay Spring Ave., allegedly grabbed her by the neck and pushed her out of their apartment on Wednesday afternoon, Jan. 15. They were reportedly arguing over disposing of a TV, said Barrington Police Chief John LaCross. 

“Their verbal argument reportedly escalated into a physical argument,” LaCross said.

Harvery allegedly used force as their confrontation got more heated, the police chief said. Police officers responded around 3 pm to the apartment after the police dispatcher got a call about a domestic dispute in progress.

Harvey has been charged with domestic simple assault and batter and domestic disorderly conduct. He was arraigned by a justice of the peace in the police station and released with a date to appear in District Court to face the charges.
